Unveiling my MVP pick

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

Pat Nagle will be in net tonight for the Komets against the Alaska Aces. It will be like old times for some of us in the press box, as Brad Jones, the former Komets player and former vice-president of hockey operations of the now-defunct IHL, will be at the game to watch his son – Alaska’s Mitch Jones.

Mitch, when he was little, was often at the games with his dad.

On another note, I turned in my ballot for the ECHL’s awards and here’s who I picked:

MVP: David Vallorani, Brampton, followed by Garrett Bartus, Komets, and Casey Pierrro-Zabotel, Colorado.

My pick for Coach of the year: Colin Chaulk, Brampton, followed by Toledo’s Dan Watson.

My First Team All-Stars were: Jake Paterson, Toledo, Simon Denis, Toledo, Joel Chouinard, Allen, Vallorani, Peter Sivak, Alaska, and Pierro-Zabotel.

My Second Team: Bartus, Cody Sol, Fort Wayne, Matt Register, Colorado, Chad Costello, Allen, Tylor Spink, Toledo, Brendon O’Donnell, Florida.

My All-Rookie Team: Landon Bow, Idaho, Kevin Schultze, Wheeling, Denis, Spink, Mike Cazzola, Fort Wayne, and Michael Parks, Quad City.

For Rookie of the Year, I had Spink, followed by Cazzola and Parks.

My pick for Most Sportsmanlike: Chris Auger of Brampton.
