Woodlan beats Leo to secure share of ACAC

Woodlan quarterback Braden Hines connected with Victor Klopfenstein for two touchdowns as the Warriors moved into a tie for first place in the ACAC by beating visiting Leo 18-7 on Friday.

Aury Keller’s touchdown run in the first quarter put Woodlan (4-3, 4-1) ahead 6-0 at halftime. Hines found Klopfenstein on a 3-yard TD with 5:47 left in the third quarter to make it 12-0.

The Lions (5-2, 4-1) answered on Justin Woods’ 10-yard run for a score. But Hines helped seal the victory when he connected with Klopfenstein early in the fourth quarter on an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Hines completed 8 of 15 passes for 102 yards. Klopfenstein caught five passes for 68 yards. Keller led the rushing game with 117 yards on 24 carries.

BISHOP DWENGER 35, SOUTH SIDE 5: Jermarkis Willis rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns as the Class 4A top-ranked Saints cruised on the road.

Dwenger quarterback John Goodman threw two touchdown passes, including a 58-yarder.

HARDING 34, WAYNE 25: Roderick Smith’s 111 yards and two touchdowns sparked the Class 2A No. 3 Hawks on the road.

Wayne’s Ray Byers rushed for 97 yards and two TDs.

HERITAGE 23, BLUFFTON 6: Chris Knefelkamp’s two touchdowns lifted the Patriots at home.

Knefelkamp finished with a team-high 80 yards on 15 carries.

WARSAW 28, WAWASEE 27, 3OT:Wawasee’s two-point conversion pass attempt failed in the third overtime, helping the Tigers clinch a victory at home.

The Tigers took the lead at 28-21 on a touchdown pass in the third overtime, and Wawasee pulled within one on Jake Sommers’ 10-yard pass to Brandon Geiger.

Sommers threw four touchdown passes, including one in the fourth quarter that forced the first overtime and one in each overtime period. Geiger caught two, and Brandon Boyer caught the other two.
