NOBLESVILLE – The wife of former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Nick Harper avoided prosecution for cutting him with a kitchen knife after completing the terms of a pretrial diversion agreement.
Both Daniell Harper and her husband, who now plays for the Tennessee Titans, portrayed the wound as an accident.
Nick Harper was treated at a hospital Jan. 14, 2006, after deputies and paramedics found him with a puncture wound to his right knee, police said. The next day, Harper played in an AFC playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and recovered a fumble late in the game.
Daniell Harper had faced a possible charge of criminal recklessness, but she entered into a program for first-time offenders under which the charge would be dismissed if she committed no crime, underwent marriage counseling and passed all drug and alcohol tests for a year. The charge was dismissed Friday.
An earlier domestic battery charge against her husband was dismissed in February after he completed a similar program.
