Braves' assists record broken

Riley Wharton set Blackhawk Christian’s single-season assists record in the Braves’ 59-52 boys basketball victory Friday at Heritage.

Wharton had 10 assists in the game and has 161 for the season. Wharton’s sharing helped teammate Dayton Merrell scored a game-high 19 points.

Russell Byrd added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Blackhawk Christian (14-5).

EAST NOBLE 53, CONCORDIA 51: The Knights used a 16-point fourth quarter to surpass the host Cadets.

East Noble (8-11) got 16 points from Kelby Probst and 13 from Robbie Franklin.

Clayton Pusey and Brandon Knox had 17 points apiece for Concordia (7-12).

BISHOP LUERS 76, NORTH SIDE 68: DeShaun Thomas and Lawrence Barnett combined for 49 points to spark the Knights on the road.

Thomas has a game-high 29, and Barnett added 20 as Luers improved to 18-3.

SOUTH SIDE 71, MUNCIE SOUTH 62: Lamont Prosser and Jermichael Williams scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, to lead the host Archers (16-4).

South Side led 44-26 after three quarters before getting outscored 36-27 in the fourth.

WARSAW 71, CARROLL 62: The Chargers’ second-half comeback came up short against the visiting Tigers.

Carroll (9-11) trailed 37-18 at halftime and outscored Warsaw (12-8) 44-34 in the second half.

Max Killion had 18 points for Carroll.

BELLMONT 63, WOODLAN 36: The Braves shot 49 percent and had only six turnovers in its rout at home. Drew Konkle’s 20 points topped Bellmont (9-10). Zack Colcasure added 15.

Woodlan (7-12) was led by Braden Hines’ 10 points, and Jason Spindler added 13 rebounds.

NEW HAVEN 71, ADAMS CENTRAL 52: Ten players scored for the Bulldogs, who used the balance to win at home.

Ervin Upshaw and Gene Williams topped New Haven (9-10) with 13 points apiece, and Kyle Bischoff scored 11.

Joel Workinger’s 17 points led the Flying Jets (0-19).
