The woman accused of killing her daughters college roommate now faces formal murder charges.
Early Thursday morning, Allen County prosecutors filed four charges against Tina L. Morris, 36, in connection with the April 18 slaying of 22-year-old IPFW student Liette Lola Martinez in a campus housing unit.
Morris is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery and auto theft, according to court records.
According to court documents, Morris, the mother of one of Martinezs two roommates, had been staying in the university-owned apartment for about two weeks.
When she was arrested, after fleeing Fort Wayne in Martinez car, Morris told police she had confronted Martinez about how the younger woman had spoken to her daughter the night before. The two argued, according to Morris. The older woman saw a knife on Martinezs desk, grabbed it and the two fought over the knife. Morris said she got the knife away from Martinez and stabbed her, according to court documents.
Morris then took a pan of hot water off the kitchen table, threw it on Martinez and hit her in the face with the pan. Morris continued to stab Martinez, the documents said.
She then changed her clothes, saw Martinezs car keys on the table and took off in the victims car, according to court documents. Morris was arrested in Indianapolis.
Morris is scheduled to appear in Allen Superior Court for an initial hearing Monday, court officials said.
She is being held in the Allen County jail without bond.
