In our time covering Notre Dame, few names are more divisive than Rudy Ruettiger.
Rudy, of course, is the walk-on who made all Notre Dame walk-ons famous after the 1993 film starring Sean Astin as the diminutive football player.
And we've blogged about it before, but an interesting note came across the desk about Rudy's continued attempt at selling health drinks.
Apparently, Rudy's company struck a deal today with Collins Brothers, Inc., a distributor of non-alcoholic products based in Illinois. We've never had -- or seen, for that matter -- any of these "Rudy" drinks on sale anywhere.
But apparently this deal might get Rudy's brand of drinks into a Walgreen's, CVS, Osco or Albertson's near you.
In reality, Keith Smart and Mario Chalmers should take note. This is the way to build a life off of one play -- and Ruettiger's was a meaningless sack at the end of a decided game, not a shot to help win a national title at Indiana (Smart) or Kansas (Chalmers).
Don't get too excited, though. Rudy Nutrition's stock is selling at a whopping $.55 a share, up two cents from yesterday.
