The county-run immunization clinic focuses on providing vaccines to children.

The clinic also provides basic health screenings to refugees, information for foreign travelers and adult vaccines periodically.

The county receives federal money for children’s vaccinations, so those services are free. But parents must bring in their child’s shot records, health department spokesman John Silcox said.

Vaccines for adults have been offered in the past; the county does charge for those. The department has offered shots for hepatitis and a new vaccine for HPV. But the department does not always carry those vaccines, Silcox said.

The clinic does not provide vaccinations for travelers going overseas. Instead, the department refers travelers to other agencies while offering related information, he said.

In 2007, the clinic saw 3,200 children and provided 9,600 vaccinations. Staff also screened 625 refugees, according to the department’s annual report.
