Jeff Samardzija can now officially say he's a major leaguer.
Called up late last night, the former Notre Dame All-American wide receiver made his debut with the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon, entering the game in the seventh inning of the Cubs' 3-2 loss to Florida.
Samardzija threw two innings, gave up two hits, one run, struck out two and was officially credited with a blown save. He came out impressively, though, striking out his first batter, hitting 97 mph. and receiving a nice ovation from the Wrigley Field fans.
His ERA after one game -- 4.50.
Not a horrible debut for Samardzija, especially since he arrived in Chicago earlier in the day.
