Notre Dame Fans: Donate Money For A Good Cause -- Or 8

By Michael Rothstein
The Journal Gazette

If you read Insights enough, you know our opinion of Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel. He's one of the best writers covering college football these days and also writes an informative Mailbag every week.

And he's using his national platform to raise money for good causes. In Mandel's latest Mailbag, he challenged fans from conferences around the country to donate money to Donorschoose.org. He didn't forget about Notre Dame, though, as he has a group for the FBS Independents.

People can donate until Sept. 24 -- and, I suppose, you can continue donating after -- upon which Mandel will name a winner. So far, the FBS Independents have raised a whopping $358, well behind the Big Ten's leading $5,373.

So far, the FBS Independents have one donor of money, kind of sad if you ask me. So, Notre Dame fans, step up for a good cause, helping America's schools.

You'll be glad you did.

The Journal Gazette's Assistant Sports Editor Tony Krausz covers The University of Notre Dame. Krausz, a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a native of St. Louis, has been assistant sports editor since October 2005. Prior to joining the JG, he worked at two papers in Mississippi covering high school and college athletics.
