ND-SDSU: End Third..

By Michael Rothstein
The Journal Gazette

So when Charlie Weis said fast start, was he crossing his fingers, his toes and declaring opposite day?

Notre Dame can do nothing right. The offense is putrid. The defense is starting to tire and the special teams, well, they haven't been very special.

But hey, at least Jimmy Clausen hasn't been sacked. Maybe he needs that to wake him up.

San Diego State looks like the better team in every facet and the Aztecs lost to FCS school Cal Poly, so...

Yeah, I won't finish that so you can make your own conclusion.

Notre Dame is playing devoid of passion. As our columnist, sitting next to me just said, "I never thought I'd see this."

Bet Charlie Weis didn't, either.

The Journal Gazette's Assistant Sports Editor Tony Krausz covers The University of Notre Dame. Krausz, a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a native of St. Louis, has been assistant sports editor since October 2005. Prior to joining the JG, he worked at two papers in Mississippi covering high school and college athletics.
