An impressive first half for Notre Dame, whose biggest concern could be the health of its coach, Charlie Weis.
Weis was hit on the sideline during a play and it didn't look pretty. His left leg was put in a soft cast and he was driven in a golf cart off the field at halftime. When interviewed by NBC's Alex Flanagan, though, Weis seemed to be in good spirits about it.
Overall, though, Weis must be pretty happy with the way his offense has looked. Jimmy Clausen has twice hit his longest career completion -- 40 yards to Golden Tate and then 60 yards to Tate.
Notre Dame leads 28-17 at the half and a big reason why Michigan is in the game is because of Wolverines freshman Sam McGuffie.
The Texan has been everywhere for Michigan, catching passes, running behind blockers, even spinning off of his own lineman when he collided with him before running through a seam for a touchdown. McGuffie has 84 yards rushing and 43 yards receiving.
Other than McGuffie, it's been all Notre Dame.
Golden Tate already has a career-high receiving yards with 116 on three catches. Clausen is 8 of 13 passing for 136 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Robert Hughes touched the ball four times. Twice, he's scored.
Defensively, David Bruton has been all over. He's made 11 tackles. The next closest Irish player has four.
Or, as a friend texted midway through the second quarter: "Holy cow! What a start!" If you're Notre Dame, it couldn't have gone that much better.
And remember that rain we mentioned....It's here.
