ND-Michigan: End First, Didn't See This

By Michael Rothstein
The Journal Gazette

So when you're wrong, you're wrong. Notre Dame and Michigan have combined for more points (28) than I predicted they would for the whole game (27).

Sam McGuffie from Michigan has been impressive, cutting through Notre Dame's defense and making a lot of guys miss.

Notre Dame's 21 first quarter points -- the Irish lead, 21-7 -- is the most since the Irish beat Washington in 2004. ND won that game, 38-3. Also, Notre Dame scored its first 21 points in 1 minute, 57 seconds of possession.

The Irish's offense has been good, using a lot of play-action and a bunch of passes to Michael Floyd. On the Irish's last touchdown of the quarter, Golden Tate just ran past Michigan's defense for a 40-yard touchdown catch from Jimmy Clausen.

And oh yeah, the rain feels like it's coming.
