Less than an hour into the Monday morning broadcast of the nationally syndicated radio show "Mike And Mike In The Morning," former Notre Dame football player and current Irish football dad Mike Golic Sr. brought up the arrest of his son, Mike Golic Jr. at a house party in South Bend over the weekend.
Co-host Mike Greenberg brought the incident up 49 minutes into Monday's show.
"You know, we talk a lot about our families, certainly on this show, you know, our wives, our kids, everything," Golic Sr. said. "I have a son at Notre Dame and talked a lot about that when he was going there and over the weekend he was at a house party there and there was alcohol at the house party and the police came and basically a whole lot of people went downtown is how that one played out and Mike was one of them.
"As it unfolds, I certainly will talk more about it. Right now, it's right in the beginning of the process so I'm going to hold off on just where it's going to go. But as we talk about the show I have no problem talking. We've been very open about our families, as this thing goes on and we see what happens I will address it as well again then."
Greenberg said the show received a lot of encouraging messages from listeners about the incident and called it "touching."
"Mike is fine," Golic Sr. said. "Everything is going to be fine with it. So I do appreciate those as well."
Golic also addressed the situation a second time later in the show.
