BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bills traded underperforming defensive tackle John McCargo to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick on Tuesday.

The second of Buffalo’s two 2006 first-round draft picks, McCargo had difficulty gaining a regular role in the team’s defensive line rotation and had dropped to fourth on the Bills’ depth chart behind Spencer Johnson.

In 25 career games, none as a starter, 6-foot-2, 307 pounder from North Carolina State had only 2 1/2 sacks and one forced fumble.

Also, Colts coach Tony Dungy expects linebacker Tyjuan Hagler to return to the practice field for the first time since summer mini camp.

Hagler hasn’t practiced since tearing a pectoral muscle while lifting weights in July.

The Colts could also have their other missing starter, guard Ryan Lilja, back today.
