Floyd, Smith Out

By Michael Rothstein
The Journal Gazette

Quick update from South Bend (although Insights is still in Northern Kentucky at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport).

Freshman wide receiver Michael Floyd and sophomore linebacker Brian Smith will be out for the Syracuse and USC games with tweaked knees.

Floyd hurt his knee on the third play of the game and Smith went down in the first half.

Also, Terrail Lambert is 50-50 for Saturday and should be able to play against USC. When he does return, though, it sounds like he might have to fight for his spot with Robert Blanton.

The Journal Gazette's Assistant Sports Editor Tony Krausz covers The University of Notre Dame. Krausz, a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a native of St. Louis, has been assistant sports editor since October 2005. Prior to joining the JG, he worked at two papers in Mississippi covering high school and college athletics.
