Snowballs and Sledgehammers

By Michael Rothstein
The Journal Gazette

Notre Dame just kicked a field goal to go up 3-0 early in the first quarter, but that's not the big story here.

Nope, snowballs are.

Notre Dame students -- and others -- have taken to throwing snowballs onto the field and so far three players -- Ethan Johnson in the face, Dayne Crist in the head and Kerry Neal in the left arm -- have been hit.

So has an usher.

It's been a constant barrage of snowball tossing here, some even making it to the field.

And, another usher just got hit. No one, however, is throwing at the Syracuse players on the other side.

Well done, Notre Dame. Well done. And we mean that with all sorts of sarcasm.

In other news, fifth-year senior Terrail Lambert carried a sledgehammer with him out of the tunnel. Apparently, it's been brought to a bunch of games this year.
