Notre Dame released its depth chart for Saturday's USC game and one thing is definitely notable.
It looks like senior cornerback Terrail Lambert will be back.
Lambert, who missed the last two games with an ankle injury, is listed as the starting cornerback alongside Raeshon McNeil, with freshman Robert Blanton backing him up.
This is an important game for Lambert, who grew up in the shadow of USC in Oxnard, Calif.
Judging by the depth chart, it appears Brian Smith, Michael Floyd and Chris Stewart will not play this weekend, but that'll be discussed more at Charlie Weis' weekly new conference at noon Tuesday.
Other interesting notes Insights found:
In quickly perusing the game notes, McNeil has 10 pass breakups, the most for an Irish player since Dave Waymer had 12 in 1978. And Kyle McCarthy needs three tackles to break Chinedum Ndukwe's single-season record for tackles by a defensive back. McCarthy has 96. Ndukwe had 98 in 2006.
The game notes also point out Charlie Weis' offensive prowess, mentioning his teams have scored 40-plus points 11 times in his tenure. Until, of course, you realize that statistic is skewed. In the past two seasons, Notre Dame has scored 40-plus points once -- in a triple-overtime loss to Navy in 2007, when the Irish lost 46-44.
