CINCINNATI - Authorities in southwest Ohio are accusing a woman of stealing a cell phone from a public defender's office employee just after requesting a lawyer to defend her on a previous theft charge.
Hamilton County sheriff's officials in Cincinnati tracked down 20-year-old Jessica Cohen from personal information she left at the public defender's office the day the phone was stolen.
She was arrested Monday and pleaded not guilty to a theft charge on Tuesday.
The office still agreed to represent Cohen, appointing an outside lawyer, Marina Marinakis, to handle her defense.
Cohen is still facing the previous charge, stemming from her alleged theft of a sweater and dress at a Cincinnati mall. A telephone message The Associated Press left with Marinakis on Wednesday was not immediately returned.
