INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Supreme Court is partnering with the Indiana State Bar Association to celebrate Abraham Lincoln's career as a lawyer on the 200th anniversary of his birth.
Chief Justice Randall Shepard will visit schoolchildren Feb. 12 to talk about Lincoln's importance to the rule of law. Shepard wants lawyers and judges across the state to do the same as part of a project titled, "Why Lincoln Was A Lawyer."
Shepard says it's a chance for the legal community to share the story of an Indiana child who went on to become one of our nation's greatest leaders.
The project was created by Courts in the Classroom, the educational outreach program of the Indiana Supreme Court.
