The two counties with Indiana’s worst unemployment got more bad news Monday with the announcement that hundreds more recreational vehicle manufacturing jobs will be cut.
Goshen-based Keystone RV Inc. announced it would cut 15 percent of its workforce, or 350 jobs. Of those, 150 are in the company’s plant in Howe, which will close, Keystone President Ron Fenech said Monday.
Middlebury-based Jayco Corp also announced Monday it plans to cut 250 jobs from its Middlebury plant. The company cut 244 jobs in November when it closed a plant in Topeka.
Largely because of the loss of RV jobs, Elkhart had Indiana’s worst unemployment in December at 15.3 percent. Neighboring LaGrange County was second at 15.1 percent.
