The remaining home games of the 2008-09 Mad Ants NBA D-League season will be televised locally, the basketball team announced Thursday.

Beginning with Tuesday’s 7 p.m. game against Utah, the remaining 13 home games will be televised on MyNetworkTV, part of Indiana’s NewsCenter, which is joining forces with the second-year D-League team.

The home games can be seen on Indiana’s NewsCenter’s digital Channel 33.2; Comcast cable Channel 252; and Verizon FiOS Channel 9. Team radio play-by-play announcer Bill Hazen’s broadcast will be simulcast for the television portion.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Mad Ants,” said Dan Hoffman, vice president of sales for Granite Broadcasting. “It’s a great organization, and we look forward to a great partnership. We think this is great for the community.”

Because of the technological advances added to Memorial Coliseum, the telecast can be picked up by MyNetworkTV for a $250 fee, which will be offset by selling sponsorships.

“Technically it’s (a) year-by-year (agreement), but the plan is to extend this into future seasons,” said Jeff Johnson, Mad Ants vice president of sales and marketing.

The second half of the D-League season begins tonight for the Mad Ants (10-15) when they play in Sioux Falls, S.D. Tipoff is 8 p.m. Fort Wayne ends a streak of 10 consecutive road games Saturday at Dakota.
