  • Avilla resident held on molesting charge
    An Avilla man, accused of molesting an 8-year-old girl in 2002, was arrested by Indiana State Police on Friday. Frederick W. Weese, 53, was being held at the Noble County Jail on a preliminary charge of child molesting.
  • Garage fire engulfs home; no injuries
    A two-story home at 6115 Hunter Wood Drive was severely damaged by a fire that began in the garage Saturday afternoon. Firefighters arrived at the home at 12:52 p.m.
  • Detector helps occupants get out
    Six people escaped a house fire at 4333 Avondale Drive early Saturday after being alerted to the blaze by the home’s smoke detector, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
  • DeKalb airport gets stimulus for runway
    The DeKalb County Airport will receive a grant for $184,929 through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to help extend the runway.
