Indiana DNR Law Enforcement urges hunters to turn in poachers using a toll-free tip line or e-mail address.
Firearms season for deer runs Nov. 14 to 29.
The state Department of Natural Resources asks law-abiding hunters who see poaching, such as spotlighting, to call 800-TIP-IDNR (800-847-4367) or e-mail tip.IN.gov.
"True sportsmen have an ethical responsibility to report this violation," said public information officer Lt. Mark Farmer in a written statement.
"Poachers are thieves," he said, "and estimates indicate that poachers kill as much fish and game as legal hunters and fishermen do."
Cash rewards are offered for information leading to the arrest of fish and wildlife law violators, the statement said.
It went on to say that videotapes and signed confessions are not required, nor are those who provide information required to give their names or testify in court.
Their information is investigated by Indiana Conservation Officers.
