PIERRE, S.D. – Authorities have positively identified a Mitchell teenager as the victim in a slaying this month that involved a body found in the trunk of a burned car.
Attorney General Marty Jackley said DNA testing at the South Dakota Forensic Laboratory led to the identification of Jasmine Guevara, 16.
Her remains were found Nov. 10. Charged in her death are two people who recently came to Mitchell from Fort Wayne, Ind. – Alexander Salgado, 20, and a 15-year-old girl.
Court documents said the motive for the killing is believed to be the girl’s jealousy about a developing relationship between Salgado and Guevara.
