SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – John Holland scored 21 points, Jake O’Brien had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Boston University rallied to beat Indiana 71-67 on Friday night in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

Tyler Morris added 13 points and five assists for the Terriers, who rebounded from a narrow loss to Kansas State in the opening round. Boston U. (1-3) did most of its damage inside, outrebounding the Hoosiers 52-32 and scoring 19 second-chance points.

Maurice Creek scored 17, with four three-pointers, to lead Indiana (2-2). Verdell Jones III added 14 points and six assists, scoring 10 of his total in the second half. Jeremiah Rivers finished with 13 points.

Indiana led 34-29 on a three-pointer by Devan Dumes at the end of the first half and pushed the lead to nine, at 40-31, a few minutes after the break. But the Terriers rallied to tie it 65-65 on two free throws by Corey Lowe with 2:53 to go.

Carlos Strong and Lowe each made a free throw in the closing seconds to help the Terriers hang on.

It was the second loss in two days in Puerto Rico for the Hoosiers, who lost to Mississippi 89-71 on Thursday. Creek led the Hoosiers in scoring in that game, too, with 18 points.

On Friday, Indiana outshot Boston U. 42.1 percent to 29.3 percent, making seven more field goals and harassing the Terriers into 5-of-25 shooting in the first half.

But the Terriers outscored Indiana 25-10 off the bench, 19-3 on second-chance points and 24-15 from behind the arc to make up the difference.

Indiana trailed just twice in the first half and led by as many as nine points twice, the last time at 31-22 with 3:16 to play.

The Hoosiers still led 61-55 with 5:06 to play in the game, but Boston went on a 14-4 run to take a 69-65 lead with 56 seconds showing.

Jake O’Brien’s free throws gave Boston the lead for good with 2:19 to play.

Indiana got within 69-67 on a Christian Watford jumper with 38 seconds showing, but Creek and Jones both missed threes in the final seconds to end the last bid at pulling it out.
