Clinton's first lady schedules go public

WASHINGTON – The National Archives today plans to release 11,046 pages of former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton’s White House schedules.

The two-term senator from New York, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, touts her experience in foreign policy – saying she would be “ready on Day One” to lead the nation. That experience is based in part on her husband’s White House years.

Her rival for the nomination, Barack Obama, has called on the Clintons to release copies of their tax returns, Hillary Clinton’s schedules as first lady and the list of donors who funded the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark.

The pages of documents, which the Archives said will be posted on www.clintonlibrary.gov , include schedules from the files of Patti Solis Doyle, who was in charge of the first lady’s calendar from 1993 to 1998. Solis Doyle recently was relieved of her duties as director of Clinton’s presidential campaign.

“Arranged chronologically, these records document in detail the activities of the first lady, including meetings, trips, speaking engagements and social activities for the eight years of the Clinton administration,” the archives said in a news release.

The Clintons have said they will release some of their tax returns by April 15.
