City crews send a camera through the sewer line to check out the damage just south of the Anthony Boulevard bridge.

A 125-year-old sewer pipe caved in Sunday on North Anthony Boulevard, and the city said it is possible the road will remain closed between Lake Avenue and East Washington Boulevard through the end of the week.

The section is closed to pedestrians, bicycle riders and all motorized vehicles.

Drivers are asked to use Clinton Street, Lafayette Street and Coliseum Boulevard.

The hole in the street about 12 by 15 feet was discovered late Sunday afternoon by a driver who called it in as a pothole, the city said.

The brick pipe was built in 1884. City Utilities crews discovered a hole in it about 4 by 5 feet. They were able to see it using a sewer camera but won't know until they reach it how long the repairs will take.

North Anthony will be closed two to four days while the pipe and street are being restored, the city said.
