Crash kills woman, 82

A fatal crash in Huntington County this morning is under investigation, Indiana State Police said.

According to Senior Trooper James Hotchkiss, a 2000 GMC pickup truck driven by Ryan M. Brumbaugh, 22, of rural Huntington, was going east on U.S. 222 about 9:15 a.m. when it went left of center just east of County Road 200 East.

The pickup hit a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Ruth J. Greeno, 82, of Markle nearly head-on, state police said.

Greeno was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne where she died as a result of her injuries. Brumbaugh refused medical treatment, state police said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, the report said.

Off-duty state police Master Trooper Gary Shenefield, the Huntington County Sheriff Department, Huntington County Rescue and the Markle Fire Department and Rescue aided Hotchkiss at the scene.
