KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- It's scoreless late in the first period of Game 2 between the Komets and Kalamazoo Wings and it has been a tense game. Almost every stoppage has been followed by a scrum, including a 10-player melee with Justin Hodgman and Tommy Lange in the middle of it.
For the Komets, it's been about missed opportunities. They have failed to score on two 2-on-1 rushes and don't have a shot on goal in their two power-play opportunities. For the Wings, Dominic Osman has a breakaway foiled by goaltender Nick Boucher.
Meanwhile, I know we talk a lot about how well the Fort Wayne fans travel to Wings Stadium. But this is ridiculous. It feels like a home game. It's a small crowd overall, but half are chanting, "Let's go Komets."
