Eight fire departments were called to fight a house fire this weekend in Bryan, Ohio.

The fire department report said a neighbor reported smoke coming from the electric meter at 116 N. Myers St. shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday. When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke venting from the eves.

When they got to the second floor, they saw fire in the walls in several places and later saw the exterior walls on the first floor were burning. At that point, firefighters got out of the house.

The second story had extensive damage, including a partial collapse, the report said, but most of the contents on the first floor were wet enough not to burn.

Damage was estimated at $60,000, the report said.

Sixty-six firefighters fought the blaze. Montpelier and Edgerton have automatic mutual aid with Bryan, and Stryker, Brady Township, Florence Township, Farmer and Ney-Washington Township departments were also called in.

No injuries were reported, and the Bryan Fire Department report said the owner was not home at the time of the fire.
