Airborne crash injures 16-year-old

A 16-year-old Corunna girl was injured Monday morning in a crash that totaled her car.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department said the 1991 Toyota Celica was going east on U.S. 6 just east of County Road 17 about 6:20 a.m. when the car veered off the south side of the road, going airborne for 25 feet.

It landed in the driveway of Charleston Metals, went up an embankment on the south side of U.S. 6, then stopped on the north side of the road facing north.

Heather L. Bizwell had bruising and cuts on her face, the sheriff’s department said.

The Corunna Fire Department assisted at the scene.
