Plenty of specials for Mom’s special day

Show your appreciation for Mom by treating her to a great meal.

Here are some Mother’s Day specials at area restaurants on May 10. I’ll have more next week, so if your restaurant is planning something, let me know by Monday.

•Paula’s On Main, 1732 W. Main St., will be open from noon to 5 p.m. with several featured favorites, including crab cakes, soft-shell crab, walleye, scallops and steak. Call 424-2300 for reservations.

•Lambro’s Steakhouse, 303 Tillman Road, will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with several specials, including 8-ounce sirloin or ham steak, with salad and potato, for $10.95. Swiss steak is $8.95; other features are chicken, fish and shrimp. For reservations, call 447-3142.

•Cork ’N Cleaver, 221 E. Washington Center Road, will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the regular menu. Call 484-7772 for reservations.

•Hall’s Factory, 5811 Coldwater Road, will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a special menu. Call 484-8693 for reservations.

•Purple Mountain Cheesecakes is offering its fresh lemon, chocolate or vanilla cheesecakes for $35. Or get a Triple Chocolate (with milk, white and dark chocolate, plus ganache) for $44. •Ritten House Restaurant in Bluffton, 218 S. Main St., will have a buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with prime rib. It’s $16.95, $7.95 for children ages 5 to 10 and $2.95 for those 4 and younger. For reservations, call 824-8112.

•Back 40 Junction in Decatur, 1011 N. 13th St., will have a buffet with fried chicken, baked and fried fish, roast beef, glazed ham, turkey, smoked brisket, salad bar and desserts. Chinese buffet, pizzeria open

•Mama Agata Pizza has opened at 5986 Stellhorn Road in Maplewood Plaza (the former Dominos Pizza spot), with pizza, subs and salads. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It is closed Sundays. To order, call 486-4041.

•A Chinese buffet restaurant, JJ Buffet, has opened at 10366 Leo Road in the former Royal Garden restaurant. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily. For information, call 483-0088.

Dunkin’ Donuts sponsors ‘stakeout’

Fort Wayne and New Haven police officers will have a “rooftop stakeout” Friday at Dunkin’ Donuts to raise money for Special Olympics Indiana as part of Law Enforcement Torch Run events.

They’ll be at the 5767 St. Joe Road location in the Marketplace at Canterbury from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine. ustomers who donate to the Torch Run will receive a coupon for a free doughnut; donate $10 or more, and get a coupon for a free medium coffee.

Dunkin’ Donuts will donate $5,000 to the program. The goal is to raise at least $25,000 at 18 locations around the state. Last year, the event raised $10,600 at four spots.

Tidbits

•The Downtown Improvement District has launched the “Play Downtown” campaign to promote local attractions and events during baseball season. •After four months of renovations, Hall’s Old Gas House and Takaoka are almost ready to reopen at 305 E. Superior St. I’ll have more information next week.

•B. Antonio’s Pizza, 5417 Meijer Drive, has a special in May: two medium one-topping pizzas for $20. The featured pizza is Greek, with a pesto base, green peppers, tomatoes, black olives, mozzarella and feta cheese.

•Each Friday in May, Chick-Fil-A at Jefferson Pointe will give away a free featured breakfast item (one per customer) from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.

•Krispy Kreme at Jefferson Pointe has closed.
