MTV picks film-award nominees

The vampire blockbuster “Twilight” and Oscar-winner “Slumdog Millionaire” have six MTV Movie Award nominations each, MTV said.

Nominated films include “Role Models,” “The Dark Knight” and “Ironman.” Nominees include “Slumdog’s” Dev Patel, “Twilight’s” Robert Pattinson, Kate Winslet, Shia LaBeouf, Angelina Jolie and Christian Bale.

For a list of nominees, go to www.MovieAwards.MTV.com. Votes can be cast there through May 27. Voting for best movie is open until May 31, when the show airs live with host Andy Samberg of “Saturday Night Live.”

Swine flu gets TV time

The Spike TV network says a swine-flu themed episode will be included in a new series called “Surviving Disaster,” expected to be on the air early next year.

The series will offer tips on what to do should the unexpected happen. Cade Courtley, a former Navy SEAL, will host.

Singer’s brother dies

Adam Cook, the eldest brother of “American Idol” winner David Cook, has died from brain cancer. He was 37.

David Cook announced the Saturday death at the Race for Hope 5K in Washington, D.C., where he was grand marshal. The singer says he died of a brain tumor.

Adam Cook was a Terre Haute lawyer who battled cancer for a decade. He famously cheered on his sibling in the audience of the Fox contest in 2008.
