Summer

Late-1980s pop artist Henry Lee Summer was arrested in Indianapolis on methamphetamine possession and other charges.

Summer, 53, was arrested Tuesday after police say he threw drugs from his car during a traffic stop. Officers who pulled him over for not using a turn signal say they needed pepper spray to subdue him.

Summer (born Henry Lee Swartz) scored two Top 20 hits with “I Wish I Had a Girl (Who Walked Like That)” and his cover of “Hey Baby.”

He faces one count of meth possession, one count of obstruction of justice and two counts of resisting law enforcement. He was released from Marion County Jail and has a hearing May 12.

Coupon creates tizzy

Customers at a New York KFC hoping to redeem coupons for a free meal were disgruntled when the eatery ran out of its new grilled chicken, but Web rumors of a riot were unfounded, a KFC spokeswoman said.

Laurie Schalow said the coupons were available on Oprah.com on Tuesday after Oprah Winfrey announced the promotion on her show. Each downloadable coupon can be redeemed for two pieces of grilled chicken, two individual sides and a biscuit.

Schalow said customers have until May 19 to redeem coupons, Mother’s Day excluded.

TV judge: Step off

Two days after Lil’ Kim’s elimination from “Dancing with the Stars,” fans are still crying foul that the rapper was ousted from the competition while rodeo star Ty Murray will advance to the semifinals next week.

Murray, 39, blogged on MySpace about the trash talk: “Let’s not worry about it and, instead, we’ll just let it roll off of our backs.”

“Dancing” judge Carrie Ann Inaba is on the defense, saying, “Ty Murray embodies what the show is all about. He is the most improved dancer this season. Is he the best dancer? No. But he stepped so far out of his element to do this and that’s why he’s still on the show.”

LAPD records sought

Chris Brown’s attorney has requested police files regarding the alleged beating of Rihanna for evidence of misconduct he says could be grounds for dismissal.

Mark Geragos wrote in a motion Wednesday that he wants the personnel and investigative records to see whether he can discredit witnesses during a preliminary hearing in June. He also wants paperwork from an investigation into a photo of a battered Rihanna that was leaked to TMZ.com.

If those files contain evidence of police misconduct, Geragos wrote, they could help him build an argument to dismiss charges against the R&B singer, 20. The motions will be heard May 28.
