A Williams County woman has died from injuries she sustained in a crash last month, according to troopers at the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Defiance post.
Cheryl Harter, 53, of Montpelier, was injured April 25 in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on County Road F just west of Ohio 49, near Edgerton.
Troopers said Harter failed to negotiate a curve, driving off the left side of the road, striking a culvert and overturning the 2004 Honda Shadow motorcycle she was operating.
The motorcycle landed on top of Harter’s body during the crash. She was flown to Parkview Hospital. Harter died from her injuries Wednesday.
The crash remains under investigation. Troopers said witnesses saw Harter driving without a helmet at the time of the crash.
This is the first fatal motor vehicle crash in Williams County this year, troopers said.
Funeral arrangements for Harter are being prepared at Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, in Montpelier.
