Last year, I wrote in this column that my church had endorsed the Occupy movement in Fort Wayne, and I encouraged other churches to do the same.SOUTH BEND - Former Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes and 17 others have been arrested after marching on to the University of Notre Dame campus to protest President Obama's commencement speech Sunday.
About 35 people were standing on the four corners outside the school's front gate on Friday when a group of about 40 people led by Keyes and abortion-rights opponent Randall Terry marched up to the gate. They stopped briefly to say some prayers and hear Keyes speak, then a smaller group walked on to campus.
They made it about 100 yards on to campus before they were stopped by security officers.
It was the second time in eight days Keyes was arrested for trespassing at Notre Dame.
The protesters object to Obama's support of abortion rights and embryonic stem-cell research.
