A 22-year-old Fort Wayne motorcyclist is facing a variety of charges after leading Indiana State Police on a chase during which his motorcycle reached 157 mph on U.S. 30 on Monday night.
The 20-minute pursuit took police into parts of three counties before the cyclist was stopped and was arrested.
Keith Allen Brundige III of the 7600 block of Felger Road is charged with resisting law enforcement, a Class D felony; criminal recklessness, a Class A misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a Class B misdemeanor.
The chase began about 10 p.m. when a trooper in an unmarked car was traveling behind a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle that was originally traveling at 84 mph.
According to police, the motorcycle accelerated until it reached 157 mph traveling west on U.S. 30 from the O'Day Road area. During this time, the trooper activated his emergency lights and siren, but the motorcylist refused to stop, police said.
The pursuit continued around northern Allen County, a few miles south of Churubusco, until it turned north on U.S. 33. Once in Whitley County, the motorcyclist continued north to Indiana 205 in Churubusco. He headed east on Indiana 205 to the Allen-Noble County line, where he stopped and was arrested at 10:19 p.m.
Brundige is being held in the Whitley County Jail.
Assisting in the chase were the Allen County Sheriff's Department, Churubusco Police Department and the Indiana Excise Police.
