Chace Crawford is stepping into the starring role in the remake of “Footloose.”
The “Gossip Girl” actor will reprise the role that made Kevin Bacon a heartthrob in 1984. Crawford will play Ren McCormack, the bad boy in a small town who brings everyone together with his daring moves, Paramount Pictures announced.
Kenny Ortega, the mastermind behind the “High School Musical” movies, will direct. Zac Efron was set to play the part but dropped out in March.
Michael Jackson’s representatives said Wednesday that the elusive King of Pop will postpone several London comeback shows.
The opening night had been set for July 8 but will be bumped to July 13, promoters said. Shows set for July 10, July 12 and July 14 shift to March 2010.
The delays fuel speculation that Jackson, 50, is suffering from health ailments that may curtail his comeback bid. Kenny Ortega, Jackson’s collaborator, said the change is needed to deliver a flawless production.
