Community Action of Northeast Indiana: Provides utility assistance, energy assistance (both heating and cooling), childcare and offers minor weatherization projects. Can help with some emergency needs and provides referrals. Also offers case management program and family development programs. Serves residents in Allen, DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben and Whitley counties. Appointments preferred by calling 211 or call Community Action directly at 260-423-3546 or 800-589-2264. Community Care Food Pantry: Provides a food pantry and, occasionally, rent and utility assistance. Serves DeKalb County residents from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday’s when the Community Harvest Farm Wagon visits at 110 W. Houston Street, Garrett; also serves residents 9 to 10 a.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Call 357-3315

Community Harvest Farm WagonProvides fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products and non-perishable foods. Arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled distribution time and bring a container. Hours 10 a.m. Mondays at DeKalb Senior Center, 1800 E. 7th St., Auburn; 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays at Garrett United Methodist Church, 110 W. Houston, Garrett; and 11 a.m. Tuesdays at Ashley Hudson Manor, 830 W. State, No. 143, Ashley. Shelter Ministries: Provides financial assistance for rent, utilities, medicine and transportation. Serves DeKalb County residents at 315 E. Seventh St., Auburn from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays. Call 925-9200 or go to www.shelterministries.org.

Also provides a food and clothing pantry for DeKalb County residents from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at 800 S. Main St., Auburn.
