First Call for Help: By dialing 211, callers can reach this 24-hour bilingual service that provides information about social services. Callers may remain anonymous if desired. The 211 operators may also be able to set appointments with some social service agencies. The information can also be reached online at www.firstcallinfo.org.

Bread of Life Food Pantry: Provides food and referrals to other agencies. During the fourth week of the month, distributes products like laundry soap, dish soap, personal hygiene products and toilet paper for Adams County residents. Hours are 7 p.m. until last person served the second and fourth Tuesdays and 8:30 a.m. until last person served the second and fourth Thursdays at Monroe United Methodist Church, 201 S. Bundles for Babes: Thrift store featuring children's clothes at Community and Family Services, 313 W. Jefferson St., Service Complex, Room 142, Decatur. Open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays. Serves Adams County residents. Call 724-3574.

Community and Family Services: Provides assistance with utilities, minor medical care, childcare, rent (including lot rent), mortgage, prescription and eyeglasses to those who meet income qualifications. Also has minor weatherization program. Serves only Adams County residents. Assistance offered by appointment only. No walk-ins accepted. Call 724-3574 for appointment.

Community Harvest Farm Wagon: Provides fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products and non-perishable foods. Arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled distribution time and bring a container. Hours are 9 a.m. the first Wednesday of the month at Adams County Riverside Center, 231 E. Monroe, Decatur, 724-2520. Decatur Church of Christ: Provides food and clothing to Adams County residents. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 700 E. Monroe St., Decatur. Other times available by appointment by calling 724-2034.

Love in the Name of Christ: Provides Adams County residents referrals to organizations that offer assistance with diapers, gas, furniture, food and prescriptions. If funds are available, rent assistance may be available. At 1735 Patterson St., Decatur. Call 728-4503 for an appointment 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays. St. Mary's of the Assumption Church: Provides the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry for Adams County residents from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at 414 Madison St., Decatur. Call 724-9159.

St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store: Provides reasonably priced furniture, clothing and occasionally appliances from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at 1209 Village Green Drive, Decatur. Call 724-8500.

Salvation Army of Adams County:Provides assistance with necessities including rent, utilities, fuel, food and clothing for Adams County residents. Call 704-2610 Monday through Saturday. No Sunday calls. Assistance provided by appointment only.
