Italian a theme at Decuis

Escape to southern Italy at noon Saturday, during the vineyard lunch series at Joseph Decuis.

The menu will feature grilled eggplant terrine with pesto; shrimp pasta with squash blossoms and asparagus; stuffed pork loin with broccoli rabe and polenta; and cannoli for dessert.

Wines will be Sella & Mosca “La Cala” Vermentino 2007 and Cusumano Nero d’Avola 2007.

The lunch is $40 (or $28 without wine), plus tax and gratuity.

Reservations are necessary at the restaurant, at 191 N. Main St. in Roanoke; call 672-1715.

Future themed lunches are June 27 (Oregon), July 25 (Australia), Aug. 29 (“Best of the Midwest”) and Sept. 26 (Chile).

Joseph Decuis will have its first courtyard wine-tasting of the season at 5:30 p.m. June 18.

And it will have its annual Big Daddy Barbecue lunch on Father’s Day, June 21.

Ziffle’s touting Rib Tip Tuesday

After nearly 22 years, Ziffle’s Rib Bar is still piling on the pork.

Besides its famous ribs, barbecue chicken and homemade pizza, the eatery in Georgetown Square also offers a variety of lunch deals for $5.95 on weekdays, including a daily special.

Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

And every Tuesday is Rib Tip Tuesday, when you can order a rib-tip basket (1 pound of rib tips, homemade fries and garlic bread) for $5.

Owners Marcia and Todd Dennis opened the restaurant at 6340 E. State Blvd. in November 1987. For information, call 493-1222.

Fest includes area restaurants

At least two local restaurants will be part of the 10th annual Vintage Indiana Wine & Food Festival on June 6 in downtown Indianapolis.

Two dozen wineries, including Satek Winery of Fremont, will be pouring at the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Military Park (rain or shine).

Joseph Decuis of Roanoke joins eight other Hoosier food vendors. There also will be several food and wine sessions and cooking demos, artist booths and children’s activities.

Adult tickets cost $22 in advance or $25 at the gate. Designated drivers can get in for $10 (must be 21 or older) and students (ages 6 to 20) will pay $5. Kids 5 and younger get in free.

Food, some alcohol and some activities are not included in the admission price.

The event also features live music, including the Gin Blossoms, who will take the stage at 5 p.m.
