Representatives from a Fort Wayne community team extended the invitation to the IHSAA as part of a bid to play host for the 2010 girls basketball state finals.

Also expected from the IHSAA is assistant commissioner Theresia Wynns.

The community team is made up of Dan O’Connell and Jim Nirmaier, from the Fort Wayne/Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau; Memorial Coliseum general manager Randy Brown; and Art Saltsberg, from the Fort Wayne Sports Corp.

The three other cities in competition for the state finals are Bloomington, Muncie and West Lafayette. Scheduling conflicts in Indianapolis have prompted the IHSAA to look for an alternative location.

Also, the reason for restarting the 1,600 relay was incorrectly attributed to the starter. The race was initially stopped because a runner failed to respond to the set position.
