‘Frasier’ star weds longtime pal ‘very quietly’

After keeping his private life out of the spotlight for years, David Hyde Pierce has announced his marriage to longtime partner Brian Hargrove.

The former “Frasier” star spoke candidly in an appearance on ABC’s “The View.” Wearing a wedding band, Hyde Pierce revealed they tied the knot “very quietly” in California on Oct. 24.

The actor and Hargrove, a producer, are still legally wed despite the California Supreme Court’s decision last week to uphold Proposition 8. The gay-marriage ban was approved by voters in November, stopping legal nuptials going forward.

Angered by the ruling, Hyde Pierce said: “It’s like, ‘Oh great, we made the cut.’ ”

He called it a “very odd thing” that strangers have a vote on his private decision to marry.

‘Slumdog’ child stars get government homes

The Indian government will give the two impoverished child stars of the hit movie “Slumdog Millionaire” new homes, a Mumbai official said.

Rubina Ali, 9, and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, 10, both lost their homes last month when authorities demolished parts of their slum.

Ashok Chavan, the chief minister of the state of Maharashtra, said he approved the transfer of two government apartments to the kids.

Filmmakers also have promised the stars new apartments.

Rubina was delighted by the prospect of a new home.

“I’m very happy. I can have a place of my own. It will be much cleaner,” she said.

Azharuddin has been living in a shanty of tarps and blankets with his parents since their eviction.
