Rider is found dead on highway

A Mentone man was found dead on a highway in Kosciusko County late Friday after he crashed his motorcycle into a utility pole, police said.

A Kosciusko County sheriff’s deputy on patrol found Todd Peterson, 44, lying in the middle of Indiana 19 near West Kosciusko County Road 600 South shortly after 11 p.m., the sheriff’s department said.

Crash investigators believe Peterson was southbound on Indiana 19 when his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle went off the west side of the road and struck a utility pole. The crash threw him into the middle of the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
