IU baseball sets school record

Indiana pitchers Joey O’Gara and Jake Dunning were selected on Day 3 of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Thursday.

Those two selections brought IU’s total to seven draftees, a record for the Hoosiers.

O’Gara was chosen by the Florida Marlins in the 31st round (938th overall), while Dunning went to the San Francisco Giants in the 33rd round (987th overall.

O’Gara finished his sophomore campaign with a 3-3 record and a 5.83 ERA.

Dunning played the majority of his time for Indiana at shortstop this year, but the Giants notated him as a right-handed pitcher when they selected him. He appeared in six games on the mound, striking out six batters and registering one save in seven innings of work.
