Bailed-out DeKalb ex-coach faces new charge

A former DeKalb High School coach awaiting trial on child seduction charges faces another charge after police said they found the girl he is accused of seducing in his home.

Steven D. Harp, 56, faces a misdemeanor invasion-of-privacy charge, accused of violating a no-contact order with the girl Monday.

Harp was out on bail after police arrested him in March on a child seduction charge. He is accused of inappropriately touching a 17-year-old.

The girl's mother called police Monday to tell them that her daughter was at Harp's home in the 5600 block of DeKalb County Road 11A. When DeKalb County sheriff's deputies arrived, they found the two together and arrested Harp, Chief Deputy Jay Oberholtzer said.

The former elementary school physical education teacher and girls' team coach has a jury trial scheduled for Sept. 9 and 10 in DeKalb Superior Court.

He was being held without bail.
