An 85-year-old Rochester woman was downgraded to critical condition Monday at a Fort Wayne hospital after a Sunday crash in Warsaw.

She was in the intense care unit and scheduled for surgery this morning at Parkview Hospital, police said.

Police in Warsaw were called to the intersection of Detroit Street (Indiana 15) and Kosciusko County Road 250 North shortly after 10:20 a.m.

The sheriff’s department said emergency crews extracted Rosemary A. Drake, 85, from her 2005 Chevy Cavalier and transported her to the Kosciusko Community Hospital in serious condition. She was later flown by Samaritan Helicopter to Fort Wayne.

Drake was driving north on Detroit Street when her car collided with a 1998 Lincoln Navigator that was going south and turning east onto County Road 250 North.

The van was driven by Teresa J. Cervantes, 38, of Leesburg. She told police she was in the left turn lane and had the green light when she proceeded to turn and was hit by the car. Police said Drake was unable to provide a statement.

The Kosciusko County FACT Crash Reconstruction Team was summoned. Police said Monday morning that the crash is still under investigation.
