Crash into SUV injures 2, 1 critically

A woman was critically injured Sunday in a Warsaw crash, according to Kosciusko County sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies say Rosemary Drake, 85, of Rochester, was driving her Chevy Cavalier north on Indiana 15 when she collided with a sport utility vehicle at the intersection of County Road 250 North just after 10 a.m. Sunday.

The SUV, driven by Teresa Cervantes, 38, of Leesburg, was turning left onto County Road 250 North at the time of the crash.

Drake was taken by medical helicopter to Parkview Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition Monday. Cervantes was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for minor injuries. She was treated and released.

Cervantes told deputies that as she turned left at a green light, Drake’s car hit her SUV. The crash is under investigation by the Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, and no citations have been issued.

Claypool woman faces drug charges

A Kosciusko County woman is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail on preliminary charges of felony drug dealing, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies, along with Indiana State Police, arrested Melanie Bradley, 35, of Claypool, Saturday afternoon on the east side of Lake Wawasee in Syracuse.

She faces felony charges of dealing a controlled substance or prescription medication and dealing marijuana, deputies said.

Bradley was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at the Kosciusko County Jail. Her arrest was the result of an investigation by the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force.
