Vegan eatery opens

Local vegans and vegetarians have another place to embrace.

Loving Café has opened at 7605 Coldwater Road in a spot formerly occupied by several pizza places.

The menu, which will change weekly, features many vegan dishes such as spring rolls, pho (noodle soup), fried rice, smoothies and desserts. See the full menu at LovingCafeFW.com.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

For more information, call 489-8686.

New steakhouse debuts in Bluffton

With an upscale, casual atmosphere and plenty of steaks and seafood, the Market Street Steakhouse has opened in downtown Bluffton.

It’s at 229 W. Market St. in the former Mother’s Kitchen.

The menu also includes ribs, chicken (charred or smothered), salmon (blackened or grilled), shrimp scampi pasta and a salad bar.

There is a prime rib special Fridays through Sundays, and a fish fry every Friday.

The restaurant will serve beer and wine this summer when its liquor license is approved.

Owner Jim Purvis renovated the space, which now has white tablecloths and work by local artists gracing the walls.

The restaurant is supporting the local economy, manager Scott Herndon says, by buying meat from Heyerly’s Meat Market and produce from the farmers market (when it opens).

Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 4 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. It’s closed Mondays.

For reservations, call 260-824-1111.

Lunch hours likely will be added soon, and a weekend breakfast buffet is under consideration.

Something new brewing at Hartley’s

Raise a glass to summer (and Dad) at the Hartley’s beer tasting on Thursday.

You can sample six brews (including Fat Tire Amber Ale, Upland Wheat Ale and Goose Island Summertime) from 6 to 8 p.m. Each will be paired with appetizers.

It’s $10; you must be 21 or older.

Reservations are suggested; call 744-3141.

Hartley’s is at 4301 Fairfield Ave.
