AT THE LIBRARY:

•Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza, has a “Poetry Circle” writing group led by Scott Smiley, 2 p.m. Mondays in Young Adults’ Services. Call 421-1255 to register. Transform a pair of flip-flops into a unique creation during “Flipflopalooza” at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Young Adults’ Services.

•Pontiac branch, 2215 S. Hanna St., has “Sit and Stitch” for beginners at 4:30 p.m. every Thursday and “Sit and Stitch II” for the more advanced knitters at 6 p.m. every Tuesday.

AWARDS:

•“We Care About You: True Stories About Adoption,” produced by Big Idea Co. Inc. for the Women’s Care Center, won a Silver Telly Award. The awards showcase the best in advertising.

•Memorial Park Middle School’s “Vocal Jazz” and “Big Noise” and soloist Austin Lewellen won outstanding performance awards from Downbeat Magazine.

•The University of Saint Francis’ Student Film Award winners were Justin Sims, live action, and Charlene Griffin, Rachel Fee and Kristen Baade, animation.

•Huntington University professor Steve Leeper and students Elisabeth Meyer and Jimi Bonogosky have each had a film accepted into the Flickerings Film Festival. The festival will be July 1 to 4 in Bushnell, Ill.

BLACK LITERATURE FAIR: Weisser Park Youth Center, 802 Eckart St., will host the fair from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

GRANT AWARDED: The University of Saint Francis’ School of Creative Arts has received the “Access to Artistic Excellence, Visual Arts Grant” from the National Endowment for the Arts.
